Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

Theres probably something I'm not seeing but i cant figure it out...

It should be noted somewhere on the login screen, maybe with an asterisk, that beehaw.org is not fully federated, restricted, however it needs to be termed.

As the title says.

It opens them in app 🥳. Now if only it had a drop down menu with a Download and a Copy Link option on long tap, that would be perfect 😁.

I'm using it right now, seems to be stable, haven't ran into any trouble yet.

I accidentally blocked a community, how do I unblock it?

Sometimes I see nsfw posts and I can almost see the image perfectly. I can't imagine that it's usefull. I feel like from a distance it doesn't even look like the filter is on so people in public transport will just think that I am a perv.

I feel like I'm missing something but I've long pressed and checked under the three dots but can't figure out now to sort by Top or New. Love the app otherwise.

Title. I follow a daily thread, and it would be great to have an option to sorry comments by new within the thread

Hi,

my Android dev experience consists of a single school project back in the day before android studio existed, it populated a few menus dynamically from text files and displayed text/images.

I am a developer, but I write business software in a field that's usually 10 years or so behind the bleeding edge.

I'd consider myself a power user of android, flashing roms or kernels isn't new to me, but development is.

Jerboa is great already, but I see a lot of things that could be improved and many of them seem rather easy.

How much time would it take to get to a point where I could implement simple stuff, like adding an entry to the context menu of comments that lets me view the raw text?

I'm noticing a lot of NSFW posts aren't blurred or tagged, and am wondering if that's because the option is unintuitive or unavailable in the Jerboa app for Android.

Unless it's that icon on the formatting bar with an eye in a square?

Edit: if that is it, my app just has an empty pop up dialog with an "OK" button

Edit2: as mentioned in the comments below, that button is to preview your text/body. There is no NSFW option in-app yet.

Can't seem to find a way to do so yet in the app.

Wherever there are numbers in a post, they will be formatted as a link that will lead straight to the phone dialer app. In my opinion it is highly unlikely that people on Lemmy will share phone numbers on a regular basis and as such this behavior is confusing and of no use.

Could this be fixed?

This will happen with posts, too, not just comments. Thanks for any help. I love the app and know not everything will work flawlessly immediately, but I'm curious to know what's going on as it is quite frequent for me

I was testing something and noticed that reddthat.com isn't on the dropdown instance list during login any more. What gives?

On mobile I use(d) Relay for Reddit browsing. The app has a feature that I miss in Jerboa.

In posts/comments, [hyperlinked text can be long-pressed to reveal the destination](hi there i am a URI to any other website) in a pop-up overlayed on the link (sorry, I don’t know the proper term for this UI tool) without actually opening to the link. Upon tapping off the pop-up, it closes and I tap on the URI to follow through to it, or not, as I wish. In Jerboa, pressing a hyperlink only opens it, site unseen (pun intended).

This change would be useful because sometimes I don't want to open the linked page, given the target (e.g. youtube, instagram).

In Jerboa I see no way of discovering the URI of a hyperlink without following to it, which would be convenient to avoid.

When browsing on any other setting, at some point I'm back to local/active. This is annoying since when I switch back to another setting, it hasn't saved where I am, so I have to read through all the same posts again.

Do we know when the next version will come out?

643

I miss clicked on one of my subscriptions and now I have blocked it how do I unblock it on Jerboa?

644

Idk it just seems to work/look better and doesn't sign me out whenever I go on some certain instances

645

Is there no way to get a push notification when there is a reply to a comment?

646

Am I right to assume there is no crossposting through the app and no way to see where post is crossposted? Like on the website you can see when something is crossposted and where.

Title. The language of a post or comment is never displayed, nor can it be defined when writing posts or comments.
This leads to posts/comments with the language set to "undetermined" which leads to them appearing to users that didn't select the actual language.

Edit: Additionally some communities seem to have started disallowing "undetermined" as a post/comment language, leading to Jerboa users being unable to post/comment. I've encountered !foodporn@lemmy.world so far.

I've never seen this before and I haven't updated to the version with the two 'search' icons in the homebar.

649

I made a new account on a different instance and tried to subscribe to this community on the new account, but it just says 'Pending' rather than joined. It's not clear from the app what is pending. Or how long it should take

When I make a new post in the app, the icon to click to post the post is a plus sign. Can that get switched to the paper airplane icon you see in most other social media apps for posting something? I think that's kind of become the standard...
