Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

Link redirect (lemmy.fmhy.ml)

I wish jebora could detect lemmy and other instances links and give me a redirect to my Accounts instance url.

Example:

I have an account on lemmy.ml and there is a comment with a link to a community on lemmy.world. Currently it opens a Browser window with lemmy.world/c/community.

I want that instead it links me to lemmy.ml/c/community@lemmy.world

And preferably not even leaving jebora

Of course this isn't as easy. Probably you would have to check any link for a possible link to the local instance. Or is there a list of instances so you could check the Domain only?

I think that might be a locale problem. My system language is set to Polish.

I know right now jerboa is under heavy development and custom theme should not be the focus right now. However I just wanted to know that if there is a way to add themes like gruvbox,Nord etc.

Quite like the development of Jerboa as it stands, but I found the icon of the app to be a bit uninspired (and personally I need to have a dark background so stuff doesn't stand out too much).

Anyway, I got some time on hand last night and prompted DALL-E to create some Jerboa-inspired icons, and after going through dozens and dozens of iterations, prompts and refinements, I was left with 5 that I really like, cleaned them up and tuned them a bit in Photoshop this morning, and here we are:

Now I have no clue what that means in terms of licensing and whatnot. I'm explicitly posting them with no strings attached from my end, but can't tell if any underlying licenses still apply regardless.

For some reason I can't see the posts I made. This used to work before so I don't know what happened. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Edit : I think I figured out the source of the problem. When unchecked 'show read posts', it also removes your posts from the list. I assume posts you create are marked as 'read' by you automatically and removed from the "posts" list.

I haven't figured this one out yet. I mark them as read on the website instead.

(not because of Infinity obv, it's an amazing reddit app)

Hi all, like many, I am a reddit refugee finding my way using lemmy. Trying to find something somewhat like rif is fun, I found jerboa, which overall is what I'm looking for, especially in the "list" display; however, I can't seem to find a way to reverse the horizontal layout of posts so that previews and links are on the left and voting is on the right. Browsing with just my left hand is noticably annoying because of it. For now I've just turned off displaying the voting portion, but even then it's annoying when it's easier to accidentally tap the submitting-user's name than the post itself.

Is this an upcoming feature or hidden in the app somewhere that I missed?

536

At least not when trying to access them from your profile. Is there an option for this I'm missing?

As the title says, I'm looking to change the default behavior of what contents shown when I load up the app. I do have it set in profile settings to show all and sort by hot but it seems like the app always switches it to local and sort by active. Especially the show all I want because I'm trying to discover new communities

Hi! It looks like trying to open links of the form somecommunity@somelemmy.io prompts me to open it with an email client.

I looked through the app settings and the default app settings are as good as can be. Was wondering if this is a user issue or if there's some kind of limitation.

Scrolling is not smooth. I don't have the same problem with other apps.

This would only show the main comment, but not the replies to it.

541

Among other recent post I get accident posts with no comments. It seems "hot" filter runs a little hot today...😇

542

Beta versions don't go through the same checking process and delays. We could get the updates instantly.

Not sure if it's been implemented already but I think it would be a good idea to be able to sort comments based on upvotes (instead of new comments appearing first).

I heard on mastodon you can apparently interact with lemmy users, although it presents itself horribly. Is it possible with Jerboa to interact with mastodon?

As me and many others, you might have encountered the problem, that tapping on a comment in your inbox doesn't get you to the comment and it's context. However, you can actually directly jump from the comments inbox to the correct comment + context in the post.

Check the image. First long press on the upvotes/time on the top right, to have the lower bar expanded. Then press on the chain link button below to directly open the post!

It was hard to find and know unless you already know it. This definitely needs UX improvement. Hence, this post here.

Just that the icon doesn't fit my homescreen rn, the rest of the app uses material you, however.

I used to use RIF, which had a setting to toggle whether or not NSFW links were saved in your browsing history. I noticed that if I open up a NSFW link in Jerboa, it opens a new Chrome window and then the visited link is shown in my browser history. Is there a way to toggle that off, or request a feature to add that to a future version of Jerboa?

I'm trying to post a picture in wallpapers@lemmy.ml , yet the app crashes every time I tap the image I want to post.
