Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

What the title says. The higher the number of comments under a post, the more likely there will be an error. I see a post, it says "X number of comments", but when I go to the comments and count them, I notice is X -10 approx. Often more than that. Is there a reason for this comment count discrepancy?

EDIT: Turns out is the same using a browser, so apologies for presuming it was an app related issue. If the mods think this post needs to go- please go ahead and delete

I need some features for using Jerboa better. Firstly please add hide read post. Because i see same contents almost. And translate feature for titles and comments.

I often get myself closing Jerboa by accident when I'm on my profile, inbox or search menu and hit "back". Instead of going back to my feed, the app considers all menus in the bottom bar as the initial page, and hitting "back" closes the app. From my experience with other apps, it makes more sense to return to my feed before quitting.

Does it make sense for someone else? Should I open an issue on Github?

Currently when I post a comment on a thread, after pressing send, the app refreshes to the top of the post. Seems more intuitive if it would refresh to the just posted comment...?

Also, great app people. Has a very clean feel in comparison to the other options about.

On a post with a YouTube link we can open in the default browser, or copy the link, then open NewPipe, search for the pasted link and then see the video.

Can we get a 'share the link' instead of the 'copy link' .

In any case, thank you for the great app, and thank you for all the effort and care you've put into this.

I find voting gestures very easy to use for upvoting, downvoting, replying, and so on. They are available on Connect for Lemmy but are pretty glitchy. I would appreciate seeing them on Jerboa.

Is there a way to see which communities I've blocked in the jerboa app?

335

I like to sort comments by top votes but I have to do it for every post. Is it possible to retain that configuration?

First of all: I appreciate your work on Jerboa - I suppose its been tough weeks.

Issue description: Every time I view a post to see the comment section and then return back to the main view, Jerboa closes itself and I have to restart the app and scroll to where I was (which is kind of annoying).

Has anyone experienced something similar? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Edit: its not only going back from the comment section, but going back anywhere in the app. If I view my profile and then go back Jerboa will also close

I've made a post and a comment using the spoiler tag. On desktop and mobile Lemmy sites, it works as intended, hiding the text. In three apps I looked at the post & comment on, the spoiler tag doesn't hide the text. The apps I used are Jerboa, Liftoff, and Connect.

I don't know why but I can't upload any images on 2 of my 3 accounts. It says "Network Error" and "Value java.net.SocketTimeoutException..." (can't see the rest of the error message) when I try to upload an image on this account and my Beehaw account.

Is it just due to these two instances getting overwhelmed with the recent influx or something else unrelated to Jerboa, or is this app-related. I can't recall if these errors happen when I use Lemmy on a computer.

If Jerboa is the official mobile app for Lemmy, why not simply call it Lemmy, or Lemmy Mobile, or Lemmy for Android? It seems more practical to make use of the official platform name, branding and trademark.

Edit: Thanks everyone for the correction, I was under the impression that Jerboa was the official app because it's made by one of the two core Lemmy devs.

Just thought I'd mention it since it improved my browsing experience a bunch. Seems to work great for a variety of different media sites, and means I dont have to wait for Firefox or a custom tab to load just to see a picture gif or video!

Hope you gave a lovely day :)

You can select Home -> hamburger button -> Communities, but that just lists your subscriptions. I want to be able see all available communities for the instance I'm logged into.

It's available using the web UI, but I can't figure out how to do it with Jerboa.

I have been trying to post an image of my cat for a few days now, and consistently get this error, or one that just says "no value for error." Is this a problem with Jerboa, or with my instance, vlemmy?

344

Yeah, I don't need to see any replies. How do we turn them off? Can we even do that yet?

345

I keep getting popups saying that I need to be logged in to do various things. I have never logged out and I don't see an obvious way to log back in. Is there one?

I have found that switching to another instance and switching back seems to work, but there must be a better method.

I'm not asking for mod features to jump the line, but I'd like to know if there are any future plans for mod options in Jerboa.

I have multiple accounts that I use and I would like to know or change which account I'm posting from or up/down voting from without having to start from the default view of my account.

When I do this I have to go find that post again it I have to go find that community again so I can post.

The Ask

Can we get options to switch between accounts in more places so we can keep our current view?

Feature request (or maybe bug report): The sort method I choose for my communities is not retained if I navigate away. I would love to be able to set a different sort method for each commo.and have it stick so that it persists when I come back to that community.

It says "value of java.lang.String cannot be convert..." and then it cuts off.

It mainly happens with pictures I took with my camera, or I already had on my phone. Case in point, I can upload the frog but not my cats.

Came over from the first reddit migration during the blackout. Remember using this App and was like something is up. Now it works like a charm. Everything about this app is smooth

Thanks
