Hours after Israel launched unprecedented attacks on Iran on Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued an appeal to Iranians to stand up to the ruling regime that "oppresses and impoverishes" them. His message "did not resonate" on the ground, says FRANCE 24's correspondent in Tehran, Saeed Azimi. "Netanyahu in the eyes of the Iranians is a criminal right now that has attacked the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of their country."

Hundreds of law officers fanned out across a Minneapolis suburb Saturday in pursuit of a man who authorities say posed as a police officer and fatally shot a Democratic state lawmaker in her home in what Gov. Tim Walz called “a politically motivated assassination.” Authorities said the same suspect also shot and wounded a second lawmaker and was believed to be trying to flee the area.

Reporting from Jerusalem, FRANCE 24’s Noga Tarnopolsky said there have been “non-stop air raid sirens and non-stop missiles for several hours” with deadly results following Iranian strikes on Israel. “This is the first time since 1973 that the country has faced a military representing another nation.
