This is another one of those series in which the creator rearranges clip art to make new comics. In this case, old clip art going back to the Victorian Age or so. It's been running for 23yrs now, and its story is worth a read.

New strips are below, with an archive going back to 2003:

Yup, I'm again stretching the rules a tad for this one. As in, it's an edit/parody, not a pure edit. Bring it on! Anyway, here's a few more:

"If I fits, I sits! Hihihihi!"

"Lasagna... it's a tonic fer me muskles!"

It's been a long time since I first discovered these, so there might be more lurking someres. In any case, Calvert's a really nifty, talented, playful comics art guy. His joint:

The rights holders clearly don't understand fair use, non commercial use, parody or transformative use.

send calls for @cowtoolsdaily.bsky.social being reinstated directly to moderation@blueskyweb.xyz if you can help.

Nah, I'm bullshitting, here. No idea the original editor or source; just came up with a series name and upscaled the art a bit. Cheers.

'Case you didn't know, Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1, issued in 1938. The reprinted story is HERE, which lacks the interesting little color-tone dots of the original; oh well.

Writer-artist Kerry Callen did an edit / riff on the cover (above) as part of his amusing Super Antics series. His stuff is just about the funnest 3rd-party edits / parodies of DC-Marvel stuff I've ever seen. Outside of Peter Bagge, maybe.

For a more conventional approach, artist Alex Ross also did a cover redesign:

In related news, the most expensive comic book sale of all time was indeed Action Comics #1, with a 9.0-graded issue selling for US$15m earlier this year. (more info at the WP link up top)

I'm not sure if these aged all that well, but here's one more of these, at least. The first one shared here included an archive, if you want to see more.

Pretty crazy-- a super-popular cartoonist at one point, whose reputation went down in flames over the years.

BehindTheBastards did a 3-parter on Scott Adams:
