Among the penalties handed down, Tennessee has been placed on five years' probation, was given an $8 million fine among other financial penalties that will push the total closer to $9 million, and will see a total reduction of 28 scholarships.

The $8 million fine, which the NCAA said was "equivalent to the financial impact the school would have faced if it missed the postseason during the 2023 and 2024 seasons," is believed to be the largest ever levied in an infractions case.

The NCAA will require Tennessee to vacate all wins and individual records in any game in which 16 individual sanctioned players participated. The specific games will be announced later, but sources told ESPN that any wins that are vacated would come from Pruitt's three seasons as coach and not from the past two seasons under Josh Heupel.

Northwestern coaches are now 0-2 against the off-season.

Also, Mizzou has gotten the death penalty for less than this.

"Texas and UCF don’t play each other this year so this is the only opportunity to use this photo of the UCF mascot stabbing the Texas mascot."

Pat Fitzgerald's Northwestern firing was the big news this week, in what is typically a quiet time for college football. In the wake of that, the Wildcat class — currently at 10 commits — is processing the unexpected news.

Defensive tackle Dillan Johnson decommitted on Monday and flipped to Wisconsin.

Offensive linemen Payton Stewart and Julius Tate, along with wide receiver Brett Eskildsen also reopened their recruitments this week.

The rest of the class remains intact.

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart said Tuesday that he hasn't yet solved the speeding issue that has plagued his team but that he is "constantly looking and searching" for ways to address it.

Last week, freshman outside linebacker Samuel M'Pemba was ticketed for driving 88 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, according to records from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office. His speeding citation occurred about an hour before Bulldogs receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint made an appearance in court in Athens and pleaded guilty to driving 90 mph in a 45 mph zone.

[Fitzgerald’s attorney Dan] Webb is researching legal strategies and has not filed a lawsuit, but he cited "two different major breach of contract claims" with Northwestern as well as significant reputational damage.

Northwestern has not informed Webb whether it is seeking to withhold the remaining salary on Fitzgerald's 10-year contract signed in January 2021. Fitzgerald is owed more than $40 million from the school.

  • Number 44 Retired at Syracuse
  • 43 points against Colgate by scoring six touchdowns and seven PATs

Side note if anyone is following these threads: I am posting these the night before so that they can be up all day, but I believe that I got a day ahead at some point in the last week according to https://cfbselect.com/how-many-days-until-college-football-countdown-clock/. I’m going to skip tomorrow night’s post so Jim Brown is going to get two days of remembrance.
