It's now been six weeks since I started writing those Buy European bulletins. And now, with Meta's frankly infantile reaction to the fine issued by the European Commission over their breaching of the Digital Markets Act, the time has come to tackle their services directly. since this community is very much about choice of product based on where ownership and manufacturing is located, I though you might know some good video/text that explains how modern supply chains work.

I do not want just a theoretical explanation of what a supply chain is. I want some stats and examples related to present-day supply chains and their potential reshaping/disruption.

Any good suggestions for alternatives to Kindle and Audible? I'm looking at storytel, tolino, libro.fm, and also places like Casa del Libro, wondering if anyone's used them and if they're good?

Just bumped on this word this morning on the CNN YouTube channel and it put a smile on my face. That's a great word... "Detrumpify". Maybe I'll make a t-shirt.

I have a beautiful teal blue wool/cashmere blend zip-up hoodie that's starting to show its age that I bought years ago at a big retail chain (like Devred or Jules or Celio). Unfortunately, this model isn't made anymore. It's a shame because it's the perfect mix of chic (cashmere sweater) and casual (zip-up hoodie).

Do you know any brand that makes affordable knitwear hoodies?

We've all already talked about switching away from google/apple maps to something like openstreetmaps, mapy, tomtom amigo, etc. But all of these services use openstreetmaps (UK non-profit) as a source and they still miss a lot of local data even for bigger cities!

If you have some spare time, think about adding a bit of data to the map with your local knowledge. There's a lot of business data missing that is on google maps like websites, phone numbers and opening hours but also stuff like parking lots and whether they're publicly accessible and free or not. Adding these makes the competition of ALL services using OSM as a source better.

I also use the mobile app https://streetcomplete.app/ and https://every-door.app/ to add data while on my walks, these make my walks more engaging and I actually take longer ones + see new places because of it. Streetcomplete also has a focus on important and easy to collect data with their default filters, and you can choose what you want to contribute.

Should we also boycott companies that basically do what Trump wants by making other nations pay the US tariffs? E.g. in the link you can read about Sony (Japan) and Xbox (Microsoft - US). I know Microsoft is already American, but it is another major manufacturer that is hiking prices globally.

Those are so far few companies, but I read that some clothing brands and even food markets are discussing about this option.
