I'm currently stuck in a used bedroom infested with flies at the time of writing this.

My parents have decided to block internet whenever I try to move my PC back upstairs. Asking them wouldn't work out because it usually falls on deaf ears.

A few days ago, they moved it without my knowledge, and I noticed that my folding table was gone from my bedroom.

I'm planning to set it back up again, but they might turn my internet off when they catch me. I'm trying to get a few ideas and create a plan to move my PC back upstairs.

I found a few tutorials on getting through parental controls, but the tutorials are done on Windows and parental controls are set up using TP-Link.

Valet parking seems to be getting more common at some city locations that don't have a good parking situation.

How do you feel about valet parking? Doesn't bother you in the least, will do it if you have to, will never do it, something else?

Personally I don't like some random person driving my car.

I’m considering a graduate degree in engineering but I’m not sure what to expect out of grad school compared to undergrad studies. Share whatever you’d like about your degree, experience earning it, if you’d do it over again, and how it’s affected your life.

Jocular ones are welcome too (and no doubt inevitable), but I'm looking more for "sensible" ones. Some examples:

  • Unmoved Mover
  • Great Universal Mind
  • Undifferentiated Aesthetic Continuum
  • Ground Of Being

Is it done by majority vote or does one instance have more control than others cough cough lemmy world cough if so then this is not really federated is it and with each instance we now have basically upgraded mod power to admin power so one more question is each instance independently monetized?

Maybe include altitude in both metres and feet, otherwise 80% of comments will be about that whole discussion.

Or just make another one that's more honest and sincere...

All I did was ask a question, and they removed it. Because a moderator said (on this particular board), they want support, rather than questions.

Why "ask"?

Be more honest. And more open and freedom oriented, to let people say whatever they want to say.

And if they put it on the wrong board, just change the post to a different one, and let the OP know, that this is the right board. So that they know what to do in the future. To make it easier on the poster.

I'm looking forward to you guys removing this one too ("not playing by the rules", even though it's right there in the title). And this is another question. Ask. It's about asking. You see the question mark at the end of the title? That's it right there. I am asking.

Brain injured person here, it's difficult for me to type clearly. I hope you have your empathy. Be well. Peace. ✌️

I like to build pranks with some psychological horror, not just a jump scare. Help me brainstorm pls.

I'm thinking random noises around the house with hidden speakers.

Edit: Added context, she's afraid of lizards, roaches etc.

I couldn't learn this in teenagehood nor early adolescence so I have to learn it now. I don't want to go into details of my upbringing, but think about a kid living on the streets, growing up only knowing war and survival

I was reading about the allegations against Russell Brand and couldn't help but wonder how it works legally that his revenue can be blocked based on allegations and before any juridical ruling.

Don't get me wrong I don't know much about the guy and what he did or didn't do and agree that anyone should be punished according to their crimes.

But how is this possible with the principal of innocent until proven guilty? I'd be happy if someone could explain me.

I have one of those fancy MSI gaming monitors, with a built-in KVM. It's pretty infuriating. If there's no video input, it stops forwarding keyboard and mouse commands. No way to switch keyboard and mouse via the keyboard. You have to use the toggle button on the monitor buried under multiple menus.

I'm looking for a nice KVM that people can recommend. I mostly care about the keyboard and mouse switching. I guess that's a KM. Ideally it wouldn't take multiple seconds for the USB to register on the new device when I switch. Bonus points if I can switch just using a keyboard combination.

https://github.com/debauchee/barrier Is an open source software option, that basically forward your keyboard and mouse over the network between machines. It's interesting.

I have some very sensitive systems, and I wouldn't be comfortable installing binary blobs on them, and a few are off the network entirely. So this solution would be less than ideal, but it's really cool.

What's your favorite KVM? How many machines do you have hooked up right now to the computer using?

There are services that are actually free, those who don't sell your data and still manage to stay afloat. I use a lot of these. I like the Freemium model, I like the fact that the community is paying for my use of a great service till I can stand on my own two feet. So, I was wondering if there were any services you used for free once but once you got money, you started supporting it. It makes more financial sense to go with folks who offer only paid services, because you essentially are not bearing the cost of those who are not yet able to pay (or will never pay), but are there instances where you went with the company who was providing you free service for all those years out of gratitude?

I use ProtonVPN and I trust the folks at ProtonVPN and hopefully someday be buying a paid plan although some say it's overpriced! What about you. What is the service you plan on paying for one day or one you are paying for now out of gratitude and a sense of community?

Also, it doesn't have to paid, let's say you became a tor node because you wanted to help the service you believe in. Or something like this, you get the idea!

Also, thanks to admins and devs of lemmy.ml as I was able to get in without any fuss even after using Tor Browser. And screw reddit for blocking me : )

Edit: It will take me sometime to reply (perhaps a day) but I want to hear you!

I'll start! I like that DPRK has low per capita carbon emissions for an industrialized nation.

This is an elaboration on my previous question regarding depictions of single party communist political systems but I am particularly interested in China and how things work in their seat of power.

Looking for a show like House of Cards but Chinese with english subtitles and I don't care if its CCP propoganda stuff or if its filmed in the Koreas depicting a fairly realistic informed u derstanding of party politics, show trials, etc.
