With digital circus coming out recently I realised the 2000s game aesthetic can actually be kinda cool and endearing

It feels like games nowdays are kinda soulless and generic though, glossy and modern (Obviously except for indie games)

Will the 2020s aesthetic be microtransactions and lootboxes?

I jump between kbin and Lemmy fairly often, and it just seems like most content/communities end up settling on Lemmy. Which kbin communities do you actually think are better than the alternatives?

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

Another post regarding time travel got me wondering how far back in time can I hypothetically leave a modern computer where they, the most capable engineers of their time, can then somewhat reverse engineer it or even partially?

Was cleaning out my storage shed and found a bunch of vhs movies (no home movies) in questionable state. Is there anything worth doing or should I dump them (think they can be recycled)? Before it's said, I don't think they're worth digitalizing imo.

For example, if you insist on buying Advil instead of store brand ibuprofen. I mean, you’d be wasting your money in that example, but you do you

The people at The Escapist left/were fired and now formed Second Wind.

Anthony/Ian bought back Smosh from Rhett and Link (Who saved them after their parent company Defy went under)

College Humor is now independent as Dropout after their parent company went under.

Overall I think most people agree not being under a corporation is good for content quality. Is there any content creator you hope becomes independent next? Or think will benefit from it?

Besides it's a very important question for our privacy, I suspect some of my comments getting downvoted at set periods of time from other accounts. I don't understand how the fediverse work and what I'm asking is who has vote logs? Who I can ask, if a bot, like on reddit, got dedicated to downvote every post from one user. How to avoid vote brigading on here? Can it be automated?

I'm not pissed and I do know I post literal shit sometimes. It's just I'm wondering, if our fedieverse have machanics against that.

So Spotify recently changed from a green heart and a block song button to and + and a - for liking and disliking. What is your opinion?

My personal preference would be to bring back the green heart and make a deep red broken heart.

And I know spotify is proprietary yada yada I don't care for music streaming. So pls don't let it be a part of the discussion.

To reference this is an old screenshot I found on the internet.

It just occurred to me that my internet dialect in my IRL dialect are slightly different in a few ways. Curious to hear others dialectal differences and thoughts on the subject.

Other creative toys/products that come to mind would be, say, Play-Doh as a sort of children's intro to...Clay, I suppose? But in this vein without being exclusively directed towards children (albeit I imagine many may be).

Always enjoyed a creative kind of toy to mess around with.

Big or small, cheap or expensive.

Did you find any specific use for the item?

I’m really curious where else everyone here hangs out on the internet besides Lemmy.

I myself am frequently on discord with my wife and friends playing games. I’ve also found myself in and around smaller blogs spaces like Kev Quirk and related people. Reddit used to be a place for me to hang out but I never found a community that I felt connected to. I don’t know if YouTube would be considered a place to hang out, but I frequently spend way more time there than I should. IRC used to be a great place for me.

So, where are your favorite places?

~~Probably a boring answer but~~ I know my grandmother's credit card information. I live with and help take care of her, so she doesn't mind sharing it with me. Not like I'm planning to do anything nefarious, but I guess technically it could ruin her financially.

Hi guys! For the past… ever, I’ve been putting my health and fitness aside. I tried a few times to get into the habit of exercising to no avail. I’m not overweight or anything but neither am I strong or flexible as I want to be. Mainly because I don’t want to have health troubles later in life. HOWEVER, to get started I needed to google of course and… best 10 xyz, do this, don’t do this, you breathe wrong, you stand wrong, you do everything wrong, this is the only solution. All of these can be found about anything related to fitness. How does one get started with all this nonsense, misinformation and clickable? What’s even real anymore? Thank you in advance :)

If so what kind of training they would have to go through ? By training I mean the spatial and situational awareness, combat skills (this is kinda unrealistic), enough knowledge to turn any situation to their advantage etc.

Just think of the person as your average joe who financially has nothing to spend on high tech gadgets or state of the art training equipment. And doesn't even have any support from another human being. Basically one has to train from the ground up alone.

Don't limit the answers to just James Bond and John wick, you can even consider any realistically possible superhero or supervillain (like batman or taskmaster) as well.

So what's your take ?

Tired of wondering when the Big G will kill off GV, and now I also find myself needing to port a number quickly so I don't lose it (damned MFA backup SMS!).

3 numbers, a fax would be nice though I can take it or leave it. Basic autoattendant would be nice, voicemail and transcription, etc.

Really, I'm just looking for the features that have been bundled for years on the consumer side, and without nickling/diming me to death on it - and without Google.

Amazon's call center product is interesting, but more than a little heavy for me. I hate to go all-in on a self-hosted PBX when I don't really have the need. Not to mention I've still got to pay for the DID if I do that..

Used RingCentral for many years, and wasn't impresses. That was a while back, I hear they've improved somewhat, but the experience still left a bad taste.
