Dutch progressive rock band, sound I grew up with. They have a couple of songs I like.

Less well known outside the UK his short life left some iconic singles and albums.

Red Shoes was the first single that brought Costello to a wider public but Watching the detectives is still the big one in the Elvis Canon.

The Godfathers of electronic music.

As A tribe called quest was mentioned because of their use of Ian Dury & The Blockheads' What a waste I thought I might as well post the other main 70s classic that they also sampled; Lou Reed's Walk on the wild side. Produced by David Bowie alongside excellent arrangements from Mick Ronson and an iconic double baseline from the last, great Herbie Flowers (who earned more money writing Grandad for Clive Dunn (probably only known in the UK) than he ever got as a session player on this).

Probably my fave Ian Dury and the Blockheads single. Said Blockheads were insanely accomplished musically for a band that came out of pub rock and into the punk and new wave scene.
