It's pretty insane to me that this boss has been out for 2 weeks now and not only are bugs from day 1 still a thing, but they've managed to introduce new ones with today's update. Here's a list of bugs and jank I've noticed personally and from other folks here:
- Grubs no longer naturally despawn. Previously, after around ~10 seconds after beginning racecar mode, any grubs that couldn't reach the boss would despawn. Now, they infinitely chase the boss. This is confirmed as a bug, but then Jagex removed it from the list of pending hotfixes with no context for some reason.
- The wall dash bug: If the boss dashes diagonally into a wall during car phase, it's hitbox will extend up to 10 tiles away from where the boss actually stops, meaning you can get hit while being nowhere near the boss. This has existed since day 1.
- Melee punish is still bugged, doesn't proc on multi-hitsplats, randomly transitions into grub phase which throws players off, and doing melee punish early during D8+ punishes you with an attack you cannot pray against.
- Rocks that spawn on acid for racecar phase are just deleted from existence. Just another form of bad RNG where if you get unlucky with boulder spawns you're forced to tank the slams unless you've preset rocks before grub phase. This is only really noticeable on deep delves (around 12+)
- "Reduced the chance of back-to-back rock-throw attacks." Is a complete lie. I've had multiple runs with 2/3/4 boulder attacks/melee punishes in a row on delve 8+.
- Double boulders are completely jank right now after today's update, where they occasionally get nulled, sound effects not working, and they also unintentionally changed them so that the shadows explode a tick late, removing a core way of dodging them by walking onto a debris shadow as it explodes. I've also heard people saying the second boulder isn't turning off prayer at the correct time, and occasionally not at all.
- The large grub does not give the triple punish damage claimed in the blogpost from today's update
- Still losing 100% of arrows used on grubs
I want to enjoy this boss, but there's always some wild inconsistency or nuisance being introduced. The boss feels completely unfinished, and for some reason Jagex wants to take their time removing bugs. All of these things listed are completely separate from any personal changes I'd ask for in terms of the bosses mechanics. These are core mechanics that are janky and not working as intended, and they're being ignored. Very frustrating.
