Each time I go to try out one of the newer OSRScontent creators like Madcow, Soda, etc start Runescape their Wow brains are immedietly set to "QUESTS AND SMITHING NOW" and since they all do it I assume it has to do with how WOW is, but slowly they will come to realization that they just have to grind levels in other skills, and will hopefully catch on that magic is the real early came combat skill.

Very fun watching Soda make his cute steel sword, and see Madcow spend hours for his Colosal blade.

PS if any wow streamer is reading this, the best Melee weapon is a weed whacker, PLEASE try other combat styles! Range and made are extremely important in the OSRS early game!

I’ve played World of Warcraft for almost my whole life. I’ve always loved the world, the lore, and the raiding but let’s be real, questing in WoW has always felt like a chore. Grab X items, kill Y mobs, skip the wall of quest text, repeat. I never realized how numb I’d become to the actual storytelling in games.

Recently, I decided to try Old School RuneScape. I’ll admit, I was skeptical. I played a little as a kid so had a small amount of nostalgia to lean on.

And wow.

The quests in OSRS have been phenomenal. They’re funny, they’re clever, they actually make me read and care. Every single quest feels like it was written by someone who wanted to entertain the player, not just check a box. I didn’t expect to laugh out loud during quests. I didn’t expect to feel immersed in a 20-year-old game with zero voice acting. But I did.

Whether it’s helping an old man hunt his socks or getting dragged into a goblin fashion war, I find myself genuinely excited for what’s next. It’s like reading a short story every time. There’s actual heart in the writing — something I think WoW lost a long time ago.

I’m still early in my journey (just knocked out Priest in Peril and Monkey Madness is on the horizon), but I already get why so many people are so passionate about OSRS. There’s a soul here.
