Vale Totems is the best skilling content we've had in years. I would argue since Hallowed Sepulchre.

Credit to the Jagex team for delivering such a well-designed update.

  • Gameplay Loop is intuitive and easy to pick up, without becoming repetitive or fatiguing.
  • Integrating the activity into Auburnvale was a brilliant decision. It makes the area feel alive and purposeful.
  • XP Rates are fair and rewarding, with the potential for up to 400k XP/hour with Redwoods.
  • Receiving rewards simply by participating with built-in dry streak protection via the point system is a very player-friendly design choice. Please incorporate this more often!

This update shows what skilling content can be when careful attention is given to engagement, pacing, and immersion. I hope Jagex continues to build on these principles in future updates.

Some tips for the minigame

To get started, I highly recommend TravagGames’ guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOj40T_kcWs&t=142s

Also, consider using the NPC Accessibility Tagger RuneLite plugin (credit to /u/plondrein). It improves the visibility when choosing spirits to carve.

Install "Accessibility Tagger plugin" in RuneLite, paste the following config in "Accessibility settings".

This way, every spirit will be tagged with a corresponding number for quicker totem set-up.

14589:1:#30FF00, 14590:2:#30FF00, 14591:3:#30FF00, 14592:4:#30FF00, 14593:5:#30FF00

I've been grinding this new boss for a while now, and I genuinely feel like I'm losing my mind. No matter what I do, I'm not getting better. I've watched videos, read guides, even tried just doing it my own way to see if something clicks — but nothing does. The mechanics make zero sense to me. One second everything’s fine, the next I’m taking a hit I can’t explain, and dying with absolutely no clue what just happened.

I can't kill the boss. I mean, I can get it to dig and I can follow it through it's tunnel, but it never feels consistent. Every time it feels like a fluke, like I stumbled through it on accident. And the loot? I’ve gotten nothing. Not even a small dopamine drop to keep me going. I keep crawling through these tunnels, kill after kill, hoping that maybe this will be the run that changes it. Spoiler: it never is.

What drives me crazy is I see other players there constantly. The boss is always packed. Clearly, people are figuring something out that I’m not. I haven’t seen anyone else complain. So I’m starting to think maybe I’m the only one struggling with this. Maybe it’s just me.

Anyway… that’s my rant.

Screw the Gemstone Crab.

It is a common scam within the runescape live streaming space, that there are fake live streams where people pretend to be a big streamer. The title claims they are quitting, and then they have a phishing link in the description of the channel.

Currently, there is a fake sodapoppin stream. Please becareful newbies.

It's about time I speak on the latest tragicomic development in our beloved game, the migration of World of Warcraft streamers and their slack-jawed audiences to OSRS.

Let me be clear, OSRS is not a daycare center for washed-up MMO influencers desperately clawing at relevance. It is a sacred arena where true gamers, intellectual titans, and economic warlords battle for glory.

This is not a game for tourists. Neither is it a game for streamers who think “tick manipulation” is some form of insect warfare. This is a game for people who understand that every XP drop is a declaration of dominance, every GP earned a flex of cerebral superiority. This is a game of suffering. Of grind. Of absolute, unrelenting discipline.

Every time I see a clip of some wide-eyed WoW streamer "trying out OSRS," it's the same pathetic cycle. They spawn on Tutorial Island, gawk at the UI like they’ve never interacted with a computer before, and then proceed to spend the next 2 hours completing a tutorial that should take 10 minutes for the mentally challenged. Their chat, filled with equally clueless sycophants, screams “THIS GAME IS SO HARD LOL” as they fail to kill a giant rat.

These WoW players are used to being spoon-fed dopamine via flashy particle effects and scarcely dressed female characters played by males. Here in OSRS, we earn our dopamine through sheer masochism, 200 hour grinds, and the emotional high of performing the games most noble and glorious feats like obliterating ironmen doing clue scrolls, showing dominance by crashing the poor and under geared, or luring gullible noobs.

To top it all of, they're all Ironmen. Of course they are. Because nothing screams “I don’t know what I’m doing” louder than a brand new player diving headfirst into the most restrictive game mode just so they can pretend being bad is actually a feature.

So, fellow elitists, sharpen your claws. Camp their livestreams, crash them at every opportunity, stream snipe them when they enter the wilderness, mine their rocks, whatever is necessary. Do your civic duty. The gates may be rattling, but they’ll never breach the throne room as long as I'm here.
