The Anti War Action Network (AWAN) called for a national day of action on Tax Day, April 15, to protest Trump’s costly war on Iran. President Trump has asked Congress to authorize an additional $200 billion for his war on Iran while at the same time cutting funding to scientific research, environmental protection, and various social programs including housing assistance, Medicaid and SNAP.

From the AWAN post on their Instagram @antiwaractionnetwork, “Organize an action in your community for Tax Day – April 15th – to show that we want our tax dollars spent on human needs like education and healthcare instead of bombing schools and destroying hospitals in Iran!”

Rae Minji, an organizer with Seattle Against War (SAW), said, “Mainstream media constantly lies to Americans the extent to which their tax dollars have been used for purposes that have nothing to do with national security and everything to do with the interests of the billionaires. We have a right to have a say in how our taxes are invested, and in order to make that a reality, we need to expose the actors responsible for the constant flow of our taxes dollars to bombs and genocide.”

Minji continued, “In SAW, we are flyering commuters in Washington Congressional District 9, which is the seat of Representative Adam Smith, one of the politicians who has been saying a lot about stopping Trump’s war on Iran, but hasn’t done anything meaningful. And no wonder: he personally benefits from war. His campaign funding almost entirely comes from AIPAC, Palantir, and other war-profiteering companies, and he operates the U.S. Military and Defense PAC. The hypocrisy is laughable.”

Cities participating include New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Tucson, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., Seattle, Dallas/Fort Worth, Tulsa, New Orleans, Jacksonville and Grand Rapids.

I'm not a fan of some of the Purple Roman Cancel changes, as they were expensive options that added depth to the game, but this largely looks like a good patch. If your gripe with the game was either Wild Assault or Happy Chaos (and most of us had gripes with Happy Chaos), then tomorrow will be a great time to give the game another go.

My instance is getting pummeled by scrapers crawling nonsense. Like issue and pull searches with every single variant of label combinations.

Everything's coming from a shitload of different residential IPs at a very fast cadence.

There's just not that much content on my instance to warrant this traffic. It could be scraped in a minute or two like this if it were legitimate traffic.

The letter is the first time ICE has indicated it is using Graphite. The agency initially signed a $2 million contract with Paragon Solutions for an unspecified software product at the end of the Biden administration. But the contract was swiftly paused until it was revived by the Trump administration last fall.

Graphite uses what is known as "zero click" technology so that it can gain access to encrypted messages on a targeted device even if the user never clicks on a link.

The encrypted messaging app WhatsApp disclosed in early 2025 that it discovered some 90 journalists and members of civil society in various countries were targeted with Graphite. Researchers at The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy later identified specific journalists and humanitarian aid providers in Italy whose devices were infected with Graphite through WhatsApp messages. Paragon ended its contract with Italian government agencies in 2025.

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee next week, will not do so, following the Department of Justice (DOJ) stating that, since being fired by President Donald Trump last week, she can no longer appear as a representative of the administration. Bondi was subpoenaed to appear before the committee while she was still in her position.

My first attempt at a serious charcoal drawing. I'd tried my hand at the medium on and off before, then put it aside for a while, but always experimented with basic forms. I'm happy with this attempt; it was especially relaxing 😃. Perhaps someone knows of a good, beginner-friendly book for self-study. I'm not a professional artist, which means I'm looking for something accessible yet sophisticated 😅.

As Canada lowers its tariffs and imports more electric vehicles from China, an upcoming report from New York-based labour rights researchers is making new allegations of forced labour practices at the world's bestselling EV manufacturer, BYD.

China Labor Watch (CLW) received a complaint last fall from one of the thousands of migrant workers brought to Hungary from China to help build BYD's first European plant in the city of Szeged — a $6-billion investment intended to supply the European market with around 300,000 vehicles per year.

The non-profit organization launched an investigation and provided CBC News with an advance copy of its findings, set for publication later this month.

"It's important that consumers know what's really behind some of these electric vehicles, and the labour conditions that are behind the production of these cars," said project officer Elaine Lu.

"Chinese workers who are being brought in to work on these sites are being employed in quite horrible conditions."

...

The report describes potential violations of Hungarian labour and migration laws, including:

  • Seven-day workweeks with no days off to rest, with workers telling CLW they were instructed to lie to inspectors about their working hours if asked.
  • Shifts of up to 12 or 14 hours, with only a short meal break and no paid overtime.
  • Delayed wage payments of up to three months, with final payments withheld until workers returned to China.
  • Steep recruitment fees used as a form of debt bondage, with low-income workers saying they were forced to stay despite poor conditions because they can't afford to default on their contract.
  • Workers entering on business visas instead of authorized work permits, leaving them vulnerable to abuse and unable to access services like health care for workplace injuries.
