Scott Pilgrim EX is an interesting one. It sets out to do things a little differently than its cult classic predecessor in almost every regard. They could've merely gotten the band back together to do a straightforward sequel, making up for all the bugs and balance issues that arose from having to rush the first game out to release it alongside the movie. But they didn't. Instead EX looks different, it sounds different, it's structured differently, and the roster of playable characters is entirely different aside from the obligatory Scott and Ramona. I think this mostly works out and makes for a creatively worthwhile followup that does new things with the franchise, though there are some pacing issues that keep me from being completely crazy about it.

The two weeks of leave for a woman and her partner is paid at the statutory level of just more than £194 per week, or 90% of weekly pay if that's lower.

It can be taken as one continuous period, or as two separate weeks, within 56 weeks of miscarriage and parents do not have to provide medical evidence - they only have to tell their employer what happened.

Before the change, parents in Northern Ireland were only entitled to two weeks' paid bereavement leave following a stillbirth after at least 24 weeks of pregnancy, if they had been in their job for 26 weeks.

That remains the law in the rest of the UK.

However, the Westminster government is planning to bring in a change for England, Scotland and Wales in 2027 – to provide parents with a right to take unpaid leave for a minimum of one week following a miscarriage at any stage of pregnancy.

Across the UK, parents are also entitled to paid statutory maternity and paternity leave after a stillbirth at 24 weeks or later.

Officials of the East Turkistan Government in Exile (ETGE) and members of the Uyghur community staged protests across the United States and Canada, calling for global accountability and urgent international action over what they described as China’s “ongoing genocide” in East Turkistan, also known as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.

These protests were held on Sunday in Washington and Edmonton, Canada, to mark the 36th anniversary of the 1990 East Turkistan Uprising, also known as the “Baren Uprising”, which the ETGE said was “one of the most significant acts of national resistance” against China’s “colonial occupation” of the region.

According to the ETGE, thousands of East Turkistanis rose up on April 5, 1990, in Baren Township of Xinjiang to protest China’s “genocidal enforcement of coercive population control policies”, under which it alleged that over 250 Uyghur women were subjected to forced abortions.

The exiled authorities claimed that the Chinese authorities responded by deploying over 20,000 troops, helicopter gunships, and heavy artillery, killing more than 3,000 people and arresting over 7,600 more, following the uprising.

Calling the Baren Uprising a legitimate act of “anti-colonial resistance”, the ETGE said, “Mass imprisonment, forced labour, coercive population control, family separation, and the systematic destruction of Uyghur, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and other Turkic cultures continue across occupied East Turkistan.”

On 26 July 1184, in the German city of Erfurt, approximately sixty local nobles died when the floor of a building collapsed through the ground floor and into the latrine cesspit below. They were attending a Hoftag ("court day") conducted by King Henry VI when their combined weight caused the floor of the building to collapse. Some of the attendees drowned in human waste after falling into the cesspit.

Turkey is the canary in the coal mine for a $106 trillion global financial system on a headlong collision course with the Donroe Doctrine. For decades, the structural assumption of international finance has been that American sovereign debt and fiat currency were the ultimate safe harbors. But when imperial wars disrupt the global economy’s supply chains, paper promises evaporate. Pushed to the brink by the Trump administration’s miscalculations, sovereign states are being forced to abandon those promises and retreat to material bedrock.
