Firstly, welcome - you have found us.

Secondly, the origin story - https://www.reddit.com/r/blueteamsec/comments/1mc3pza/reddit_managed_to_ban_the_mod_of_rblueteamsec_due/ of which the tl;dr is we were in /r/Blueteamsec since 2018 and then in July 2025 the mod account got banned.

Thirdly, settle in as this is going to be the permanent home. The only features missing from Lemmy really are:

  • the titles are a little shorter than we are used to
  • the ability to style some of the community
  • categories

but in short nothing material. The Jerboa mobile client is excellent.

Fourthly, how does this work? Broadly speaking

  • there are optimised sources across X, various sites, groups and lists etc.
  • they are reviewed generally once or twice a day (start / end)
  • content is ideally < 1 week old at time of posting
  • content is then reviewed / curated / titles edited and posted

the rough rule of thumb being:

  • link to the source where possible i.e. not a news article but the technical source
  • cyber security relevant and insightful to cyber defence across technology, adversarial tradecraft/techniques/tools, threat intelligence, policy or events

Finally, all community contributions welcome!

Google has sharply reduced its support for nonprofit groups devoted to diversity, equity, and inclusion, in what appears to be another sign the company is falling in line with President Trump’s anti-DEI crusade, the Tech Transparency Project (TTP) has found.

Google publishes a list of organizations that receive the “most substantial contributions” from the company. In early 2025, Google removed more than 200 groups from the list, its biggest purge in at least five years. The largest category of removals related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), a concept that has come under sustained attack by the Trump administration. A total of 58 DEI-related groups disappeared from the list.

It is unclear if Google stopped funding these organizations or is simply seeking to hide its support for them. However, either scenario suggests Google is taking further steps to distance itself from DEI programs.

After Trump took office and began rolling back DEI efforts, Google removes references to diversity, equity, and inclusion from its annual report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission and ended diversity-related hiring goals. Like other Big Tech companies and executives, Google donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration.

Google and most of the groups removed from Google's list did not respond to questions. One of the groups, the ACLU of Illinois, declined to comment and directed questions to Google.

In a statement to CNBC, which covered this report, Google said, “We contribute to hundreds of groups from across the political spectrum that advocate for pro-innovation policies, and those groups change from year to year based on where our contributions will have the most impact.”

TTP identified Google’s disappearing DEI groups while updating its Tech Funding Database. The searchable database, which is linked on TTP’s website, provides information on whether organizations have received funding from Big Tech firms, based on company disclosures. The latest update adds disclosures from 2021 to the most recent available.

Music discussion is very lacking here for. Compared to reddit. And yeah I know, 'just post then'. But when I search for music communities here they're empty. And it makes sense because no-one is posting. So kind of a catch 22.

now i dont exactly know how all this lemmy stuff works but... to all you musos out there, can you join me and search for music under communities (I'm using summit app) and just at a minimum subscribe to all the ones that you would be interested in(if they were popping off)?

At least that way when one of us posts, the rest of us will actually see it (I suspect).

Anyway. Keep making the world more fun for everyone else.

P.s if your not a musician, but you like golf or something, subscribe to the golf communities even if they're empty.

Recent college graduates searching for jobs are finding that practical degrees, work experience and even connections are no match for sluggish hiring.

It's been 4 or 5 months since I lost the love of my life that I spent over a decade with and I feel like it happened yesterday. I cannot, for any reason, go more than 5 minutes without thinking about her. I don't see the light. I don't see anything in this world that brings me joy or expect to ever again. Sometimes it feels like every day that passes I get worse instead of better. I'm laying in my new house and I should be happy to have so many people that support me and the fact that I even have a house to begin with, but instead I'm just looking at my pistols. I feel like I want out, and I don't know what's kept me from doing it so far, because all I do is cry and want to sleep and feel like shit. I work, I go home, I stare at YouTube videos my brain isn't even actually processing because I'm just thinking about her. Even at the gym my brain just won't get off of it. Even at work it doesn't stop. I'm just so tired and I don't remember the last time I genuinely smiled from being happy about anything, every new day feels like Mt Everest without a Sherpa. I've had other very difficult breakups, but they don't even show up on the chart next to the pain I'm feeling every day from this one.

I'm just so fucking tired.

Nose Job? This Eastern Screech Owl came to our Rehab Center with some blood above its cere. The cere is a waxy fleshy covering above a bird's beak just below the eyes, where the nostrils (nares) are located. The owl is patiently sitting while our staff cleans the cere.

Four people were killed on Friday in a shooting at a Montana bar, prompting a lockdown in a neighborhood several miles away as authorities searched a wooded area for a suspect in the case.

The shooting brought the number of mass murders so far this year in the US to nine, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a non-partisan resource which defines such cases as killings in which four or more victims are killed.

All those mass murders were shootings, and four have occurred in a 30-day period beginning 2 July. It was the US’s second mass murder since Monday, when a man attacked a New York City skyscraper housing the National Football League’s headquarters and shot four people dead before dying by suicide.
